We’ve pulled together these boredom busters for not only keeping the kids entertained but also to love nature on the Central Coast and maybe even get a little bit messy...

While we're all praying for the rain to ease so we can get back to nature-based holiday fun on the Central Coast, there's still plenty of fun to be had indoors this July winter school holidays. 

Get the kiddos off the screens without the techno tantrums by planning some indoor wet weather activities. There's plenty to choose from on the Central Coast with our network of fun family-friendly indoor activities and experiences. Read on to discover some great, weather resistant ideas or just plan to let things get a little messy!

Unleash the kids at the Central Coast's newest attraction Smash You with purpose built splatter and throw rooms designed perfectly for burning off some energy indoors and sharing a few laughs.Come and see Elsa the Koala's first joey in the Australian Reptile Park's breeding program.  

Throw on the gumboots and raincoats to get a little muddy in the countryside of the Coast's hinterland amongst farmgate experiences by locally-run, family-owned businesses offering quality produce for locals and guests alike. Get your binoculars and khaki out to become a junior ranger on a National Parks and Wildlife Services expedition in Wyrrabalong National Park. 

See the children bounce back after their holiday fun on the Coast this winter with plenty of stories to tell their friends of what they’ve done and found on their adventures.

Blacksmithing @ Somersby

Learn the ancient craft of Blacksmithing at Artisan Estate and forge with fire. Fun for the whole family, and not only do you get to keep what you make but everyone will get to meet artisan makers and creators on the Coast. No experience necessary. 

Book for 2 or more people and save $100 each on Saturdays or $50 each on Wednesdays, Fridays or Sundays. Creative Kids Voucher to the tune of $100 each are accepted. However, kids must be over 12 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian. 

Movie Night @ Davistown RSL 

Did somebody say popcorn?! See the movie Turbo on the giant screen at Davistown RSL. Arrive early and the kids can make their own cardboard car from 5pm to 6pm before the movie showing at 6.30pm. Everyone also gets a pair of LED headphones to listen to the film so they can hear what’s happening regardless of all the fun happening around them. 

Smash You @ Erina

The Central Coast's first and only smash and splatter rooms at Smash You are a safe environment designed for kids to blow off some steam, release stress, and/or simply share some laughs with friends. Splatter rooms are for 8+ age groups with private rooms for 1-4 people including paint pots, spray bottles, balloons, brushes, a tennis racquet. Extras available include colour powder-filled pinatas and paint balloon dartboards

Rooms are purpose-built with two paint splatter rooms, and a throw zone. Let the kids do the splashing and staff from Smash You will handle the rest. 

Erina Ice Arena @ Erina Fair

Get your skates on for Erina Fair Olympic-sized ice rink. There are Winter holiday activities for everyone. Little Prince and Princesses time for dress up you’re cordially invited to a Winter Castle on ice experience. Families looking for some action will love the Australian International Ice Hockey Cup games on throughout the holidays with Canada vs Sweden in 2022.

Flip Out @ Gosford 

Flip away your holidays at Flip Out in their indoor trampoline and ninja park. A great place to Have some fun, move their body, learn new skills, and challenge the kids in a safe, supportive environment. 

Clip ‘N Climb @ Gosford

Let your kids enjoy the experience of climbing in a fully supervised and colourful climbing space. Clip 'N Climb Central Coast is a great indoor kids activity and truly is a WOW experience - for all ages too! Go on, Dad. All equipment is provided and every climb is equipped with the 'Trublue' auto belay making it super safe and easy to climb free of a belay buddy. Less standing still, more action!

Central Coast Marine Discovery Centre @ Terrigal

The newly refurbished Central Coast Marine Discovery Centre at Terrigal teaches the wonder of the ocean through real life displays and interactive activities. Kids can explore their special display showing the story of the sinking of the HMAS Adelaide or learn about the life of local rock pools.

Inflatable World @ Charmhaven

It’s all about having fun, so bring the whole family and bounce away the rainy day. Inflatable World can be for the BIG adult kids too, as parents can join their children on the bounce floor. Sessions are for two hours per single entry fee and you can play on the inflatable activities as many times as you like during that session.

Laser tag @ Gosford & Wyoming

If your kids love laser tag, playing tip or running around the house when it rains (yes, let's curb that), there are two popular indoor centres on the Central Coast where you can take your kids to let loose. Laser Tag Central Coast is located in Wyoming and there's also Laser Mania in Gosford. 

Monkey Mania @ Gosford

Monkey Mania Central Coast is located inside Central Coast Leagues Club and is a popular spot to bring the kids, with an impressive three-level play structure that keeps the kiddies entertained for hours. The facility also features an inflatable jumping castle, dedicated toddlers area, a cannon foam ball arena, climbing structure, slides, and kiddies electric go-karts. When they're tuckered out, pop into Gosford for a family feed at one of their many eateries.

Outdoor activities on the Central Coast...
We are expecting some sunny days these holidays. Here’s a few ideas for things you can look to book.

National Parks and Wildlife Service Discovery Ranger expenditions in Wyrrabalong 

Junior Ranger: Winter Whale Tales 

Calling all aspiring Rangers, become a ranger for the day and spot whales with National Parks and Wildlife Service Discovery Rangers. Join the NPWS Discovery Rangers for a whale watching expedition at Crackneck Point lookout in Wyrrabalong National Park.

Together kids will spot the magnificent ocean giants as they pass by on their annual migration while learning how they survive their long and treacherous journey North for the Winter. Your experienced NPWS guide will be ready to answer all your whale questions. 

From the lookout you’ll also be rewarded with spectacular coastal views in Wyrrabalong National Park.

Swift Parrot Search 

Search for the splendid swift parrot in Wyrrabalong National Park these school holidays. You’ll play games and learn how this special ecosystem works. Follow your experienced National Parks and Wildlife Services guide through the coastal forest in search of this endangered species while exploring the sandy Red Gum and lush wetland trail. Keep your eyes peeled for the bright green colours of the swift parrot flying through Wyrrabalong.

Meet Elsa the Koala's first joey @ Australian Reptile Park 

These school holidays The Australian Reptile Park has a celebration of their koala breeding program with the arrival of Elsa's first joey. Come and see the fluffy bundle of joy emerge from the puch of this year's koala breeding season at the Australian Reptile Park. 

Mustard Seed Farm - Glenning Valley

Get the gumboots on and roll up the sleeves of your winter flannels for some fun family farming at Glenning Valley’s Mustard Seed Farm.

From little things, big things grow!  At the farm, families will get their hands a little dirty planting and picking your own fresh produce for dinner. You and your family will get hands-on as you explore the interdependent relationships of nature, plant and animal needs, and the life cycles of the food crops we love. 

Your experience is planned to be filled with a combination of open-ended exploration and play, as well as farmer-guided activity stations. You’ll also get to do the fun stuff like feeding and petting the farm animals.

Drop and go Surf Camps by Central Coast Surf Academy 

Surf the Coast with World Surfing League Champion Amee Donohoe and her team from Central Coast Surf Academy. Amee was ranked 5th in the world in 2008 and is the coach for many local surfers.

Get up, stand up on a Central Coast wave with Surf Academy's school holiday camps.

Rock Rambles – Marine Discovery Centre 

Exploring rockpools is everybody's favourite thing to do at the beach but have you ever been on a Marine Discovery Centre tour of them?  Together find creatures you'd see in Stranger Things tucked away in crevices on the rock platforms of the Central Coast.

Grace Springs Farm - Kulnara 

Experience farm life on a farm tour at Grace Springs Farm. You’ll get to see a cow being milked, collect eggs, cuddle a chick or duckling, and pat the sheep. Grace Springs is a small, chemical-free farm on the Central Coast Plateau. They run tours to connect people with where their food comes from and to connect children with farm animals. They are a working farm open their gates during the school holidays to give you first-hand experience of life on a small farm.

Pick your own oranges - Dooralong

Head to the beautiful Central Coast hinterland for a "Pick Your Own" experience at Cedar Farm, Dooralong. The orchards at Cedar Farm were established back in the 1920's and today there are over 3000 trees, including Navel oranges which are ripe for picking this July school holidays. The oranges are all farm fresh and not sprayed with any chemicals. Farm owners Jack and Kay started the pick your own experience four years ago and watched it grow in popularity. Children love the experience of picking their own oranges and exploring the 15 acres of orchards. 

Dates: Open every day when weather permits again, 10am to 4pm.

Once finished take your bags in for weighing and pay the bargain price of $1.50 a kilo for your haul.  

Walkabout Wildlife Park

The Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park is a working wildlife sanctuary located in Calga, on the Central Coast hinterland of New South Wales. Their anger team believe in conservation through education, and care for and protect hundreds of rescued, orphaned, unreleasable, disabled and retired animals every year, as well as help protect the many wild animals living in their 180 acres of natural Aussie bushland. The sanctuary is located on Heritage-listed Aboriginal cultural landscape, with bushwalks available to see some of the important, protected sites for our local indigenous communities. 

Kid's Camp @ Glenworth Valley Outdoor Adventures

Bust boredom with a dose of the great outdoors these school holidays at Glenworth Valley Adventure Max School Holiday Camp. Kids will have a blast trying three awesome adventures in one day including horse riding, quad biking, kayaking, abseiling or laser skirmish. Activities are dependent on the season and age of the child, so you can rest assured they will be equipped to have a good time, and the camp is fully supervised by experienced guides.

The Edogawa Commemorative Garden is a beautifully peaceful space located in the Gosford Regional Gallery precinct of East Gosford, just a few minutes from Gosford Waterfront. The landscape design is inspired by a traditional ‘shuyu’ (strolling style) garden, incorporating Japanese features. Both kids and adults can appreciate the pretty tranquility available here - for free - and the whole family will love feeding the huge fish from the ornamental bridge (bags of feed available in the gallery shop).

Climb to the canopy at Treetops Adventure Park

Treetops Adventure Park are ready to go for the school holidays, open from 9am to 5pm, 7 days a week! They offer a range of outdoor, kid-friendly activities to pursue high up in the treetops of Ourimbah State Forest on the Central Coast, including Networld and the longest zipline in the southern hemisphere. 

Broken Bay Pearl Farm 

An adventure at Pearl Bay farm is a fun adventure for the whole family! Discover the hidden gem of NSW at our pearl farm. Learn the intricacies of pearl farming from expert guides, cruise along the mighty Hawkesbury River and marvel at these rare gems, and the magnificent pearl oysters in which they grow.

Iris Lodge Alpacas 

Get up close and personal with a herd of 70+ alpacas and llamas. During your visit you’ll also meet our 40 wiltipoll sheep, angus cows and horses. There are a few experiences on offer including breakfast with alpacas, and afternoon farm visits. .
