Highlights of up-and-coming artists from around NSW

In honour of Gosford Regional Gallery’s EMERGING Art Prize, we’re highlighting this year's biennial art prize finalists to keep your eye on. These rising stars are showcasing a variety of work on exhibition until 26 March 2023, inviting you to explore their experiences in new and exciting ways in the heart of East Gosford. From installations featuring super-sized gold earrings to glass sculptures, visitors to Gosford Regional Gallery can expect to be impressed by the talent on display without needing to venture to Sydney!

Every two years ‘EMERGING’ profiles a diverse range of evocative and mesmerising pieces that showcase promising artists. Since its inception in 2003, the prize has sought to identify and profile the next generation of artists in NSW.

Today, the EMERGING Art Prize is a leading art award in New South Wales, launching the careers of some of Australia’s most renowned emerging artists

For 2023, six finalists were selected to exhibit from 42 applications by artists aged 18-30 from across NSW. Over 100 supporters converged at Gosford Gallery's opening night of the exhibition to celebrate the winner of a $5,000 prize, judged by Tahlia Linz, Curator at Artspace Sydney.

Thanks to photographers Lotte Hilder and Docqument, we've got some highlights of their installations to share with you...

Winner: 2023 EMERGING Art Prize
Awarded to Monica Rani Rudhar

The 2023 EMERGING Art Prize was awarded to Monica Rani Rudhar. Her work explores a connection to her Indian heritage through the presentation of super-sized gold earrings, reflecting her family’s practice as goldsmiths.

Monica's installation finds and reclaims cultural knowledge and parts of herself through the pieces you’ll get to see in her installation, now showing at Gosford Regional Gallery.
