Fresh Find #1 - Something new to do

Where nature and nurture bloom

Recently opening its doors in the burbs of Kangy Angy, Remur Park Herd is where little explores can find their happy place. This new nature-based playgroup is all about offering a place for young minds to slow down, connect with nature and animals, and let their imagination run wild. Mums on the lookout for sensory-rich and slow-paced activities will want to check out The Herd’s two session options: Mini Herd Morning sessions, perfect for ages 2-6 and running during the school term, or holiday sessions for those bigger kids in primary school.

Mini Herd Mornings are an invitation for the little ones to discover a world of wonder. Meet Dundee, Ella and Kahlua, their resident ponies, and engage in sensory play, from whipping up “culinary masterpieces’ in the mud kitchen, to getting crafty with treasures from nature. If your kid loves this experience, there’s a half-term pack you can book for even more adventures. For the older kids who still love to connect with nature, their Holiday Sessions are packed with farm animal meet and greets, imaginative play and hands-on activities. Remur Park Herd is truly a place where memories are shaped by laughter and adventure.

Fresh Find #2 - New places to eat & drink

Bringing good vibes to Noraville

The powerhouse team behind Long Jetty’s beloved Café 2261 have recently taken on their next venture. The crew have turned the once Village Café in Noraville, into a new go-to spot called Okyn Café. Bringing a fresh energy to the town of Noraville, they’re also bringing a fresh new menu filled with oh-so delicious bites, and even more spectacular coffee from Veneziano Coffee Roasters.

Whilst their highly anticipated Spring menu is about to drop, adorned with signature dishes such as roast pumpkin paired with hot honey and creamy feta, the crew simply can’t go past their crowd favourite – Banana bread served with homemade espresso butter. If you’re looking for a moreish bite to eat to pair with your coffee, this is it. Plus, we don’t mind the extra caffeine boost. If you’re on the hunt for another great coffee spot to sort you out for delicious eats and freshly brewed coffee, you’ll want to roll around to Okyn Café in Noraville.

Surf, sets and silhouettes

With a business name of Salty Sets, it’s no surprise that Phil Worthy can be found out in the swell with a camera in hand, taking epic shots of the Central Coast coastline. A local himself, Phil has made it his mission to chase the salt, surf and silhouettes, with each frame embodying the power of the ocean, from the calming energy of the swell to the adrenaline pumping action of chasing the perfect wave. As you peruse his photography sets, you’ll come across iconic Central Coast beaches, from the iconic headlands of Wamberal to the pumping waves at Shelly Beach.

If you’re looking to add a few new frames to your walls at home, you’ll want to stop by Heart Space Copa in Copacabana on Friday 3 October for Phil’s first solo exhibition called Liquid Light. A range of his framed prints will be available for purchase and listen to the man of the hour himself with his artist talk. So, pop around to Copacabana from Friday 3 October and see a wave of phenomenal shots of the Central Coast.

Fresh Find #4 – New event to bookmark

Sculptures and sipping wine

Happening on the October long weekend, wander throughout the Sculptures at Firescreek Botanical Winery. This free, outdoor exhibition will celebrate the Central Coast’s array of talented sculptors and ceramicists as they bring their artwork onto the grounds of Firescreek. Stay throughout the day and hear the stories behind the art and see live demonstrations of sculping techniques from some of the resident artists. As you meander, take note of any sculptures you admire as you’ll have the chance to take home original artworks.

A visit to a botanical winery wouldn’t be complete without a cheeky winery experience. For those chocolate lovers, book the Chocolate & Wine Pairing experience, or go behind the scenes instead and take a guided tour throughout the gardens and discover what it takes to make the Central Coast’s very own fruit wine. If you’re still searching for something to keep you busy on the October long weekend, make sure to bookmark this event in your calendar.
