A sumptuous, ornate reimagining of feminine power and beauty.
This exhibition combines two aspects of Christiana Monored ‘s practice. Analogue photographic collage works use symbols and images of nature with the female form. These works represent the divine goddess’s energy, recontextualising 20th century photographs of women. In the vault space, mixed media works combine painting with fabric, jewellery and assemblage techniques to portray the yoni and the pleasure jewel. The richly layered artworks invite the viewer to celebrate and connect with the diversity of feminine beauty.
Christiana Monored
Christiana Monored is mixed-media artist creating layered collage and assemblage works from recycled materials. Combining textiles, jewellery, photography and paint, she explore nature’s complexity and feminine power while reimagining how women are portrayed in art. Her series The Jewel Within uses fabric and discarded jewellery to celebrate the vulva as a symbol of beauty, strength and diverse womanhood.
