Central Coast Council is celebrating National Tree Day at Porters Creek Wetland, Wyong, on Sunday 29 July 2026, from 9am-1pm.

The plants provided for the sites are currently being grown by our environmental volunteers at our Erina Depot Nursery. These plants will contribute to preserving our beautiful, natural environment.
Come along and enjoy getting your hands dirty, while helping your local environment and supporting Planet Ark’s annual event.
This event is part of a project aiming to restore roosting and foraging habitat for many native and threatened animal species, including the critically endangered Swift parrot. The site is part of the Porters Creek Wetland which is the largest remaining freshwater wetland on the Central Coast. The wetland supports a diverse range of flora and fauna including some threatened species and also plays a vital role in managing flooding, filtering storm water and improving water quality before entering Wyong River and Tuggerah lakes. The wetland provides food and habitat for native animals. Plants provided for the sites are currently being grown by our environmental volunteers at our Erina Depot Nursery and will contribute to preserving our local natural environment.
Fun on offer includes:
- tree planting
- live music
- animal displays
- environmental and cultural workshops
- activities for kids (face painting and more!)
Volunteers should bring a water bottle and wear a hat, gloves, long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy enclosed shoes. Remember you will get dirty!
Every day can be tree day! By planting native plants, we contribute towards a healthier and more resilient environment and waterways, increase biodiversity, and provide habitat for native wildlife.
Being in nature is also vital for our own mental and physical health and wellbeing. We look forward to sharing a great day with everyone!
