Love Local Guide: Where to find Easter treats
Easter is an eggscuse to have a bit of childish fun. It’s also a chance to give kindly to others, which is why this edition of our Love Local Guides shares a handful of local businesses you can buy amazing handcrafted treats from this Easter.
From fancy chocolate bunnies, to coffee served in an egg cup, hunts in a fruit winery (where the parents get free samples), and jewellery made for the occasion – check out what’s happening locally in the lead up to Easter Weekend on the Central Coast.

Central Coast Easter egg hunts
On Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday, families can venture to Firescreek Winery in Holgate to be part of a free Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt starts for the kiddies at 11am each day, and while they fossick around the botanical garden for hidden treats, parents can enjoy a complimentary wine tasting at the on site cellar door. Booking is absolutely essential – so hop on over to their website to book your little bunnies in.
Join the pied piper on the march down linga longa from Angel Sussurri to Jack Gear Reserve on this annual Easter hunt in Yarramalong Valley. Hopping off at 2pm on Easter Sunday, there's even a competition for the best dressed and most creative DIY decorated Easter basket. To register, simply send Angel Sussuri a message on Instagram with names and number of children attending. BYO egg basket!
This is the Coast's most epic annual Easter egg hunt when it comes to size. Featuring an estimated 20,000 chocolate eggs hidden across the valley for children to find, Glenworth Valley’s Giant Easter Egg Hunt is an amazing outdoor experience for the whole family on the long weekend. If you miss out on booking a place on the popular official hunt on April 4, a day out at this long weekend at Glenworth Valley Outdoor Adventures meeting the animals, quadbiking, kayaking, abseiling, or timing your visit for the daily (and free), Running of the Horses at dusk is totally worth it.
Meet a Bilby: the Aussie bunny rabbit
In the bushland of Calga on the Central Coast, you'll find a small group of elusive, cute as a button Bilbies live at Walkabout Wildlife Park. Get in touch directly to arrange a 'Speed Date' with one of their friendly animals knowing that your ticket goes directly back into supporting the park and its animals. Open every day of the Easter long weekend, visiting this sanctuary with the family is a great idea to entertain the kids - pack a picnic, catch free animal talks and spot the friendly kangaroo, wallaby, emu and other resident wildlife roaming around you throughout the day.
Fresh hot cross buns
Is there anything more delicious during the lead up to Easter than enjoying a cuppa with a freshly baked, butter-slathered hot cross bun? Whether you're a fan of the classic fruit bun, or love these fancy new flavours featuring chocolate, raspberries, apple, brioche, Cadbury Creme Egg and more - there's a local Central Coast bakery creating a dozen buns ready for your Easter feast.

- Bells Bakery at Killcare - baked with their own cinnamon and fruit mix, available to preorder online by the dozen or pick up until sold out on Easter Weekend.
- The Green Tangerine at Long Jetty - pop into this bakery-cafe to pick up some delicious hot cross buns alongside a hot coffee pick me up.
- Innerglow Kiosk at Ettalong - this smoothie and juice bar are serving up mouthwatering hot cross buns with ricotta and local honey.
- Bamvino Pizza & Wine Deli at Erina Heights - Try handcrafted organic sourdough hot cross buns from Somersby's La Tartine bakery, with preorders essential.
Easter baskets & boxes
While the kids get to fill their Easter baskets with cute mini eggs, shouldn't their be an adult edition of the indulgent Easter baskets too? On the Central Coast, several small businesses have hopped at this opportunity, and created some incredible, sweet "grazing" boxes available to order. Enjoy joining the kids in their annual sugar overload!
- The Source at Erina Fair - Your choice of sweet treats served in cute little egg cartons makes a lovely, unique gift for someone this Easter, plus don't miss their 'Good Eggs' made with dairy free 'mylk' and filled with dark choc, mint, pineapple or raspberry.
- Pipoah Cakes at Tuggerawong - Treat boxes for two, cookie boxes and cupcake boxes bursting with Easter treats, prepped for Saturday pickup.
- A'Grazing Deco - Bunny Boxes come in two tasty options, including the 'Billionaire Bunny' and 'Hoppy Little Easter' with free local delivery.
- Bamvino Pizza & Wine Deli - alongside their hot cross buns, this local deli are also selling customised Easter baskets full of goodies, simply pop in to create yours.⠀
- The Lavender Goat - Easter Dessert Boxes available to preorder featuring sweet treats made in house at this Charmhaven cafe, for pickup over the long weekend.
Also creating yummy goodies in the Wyong Milk Factory precinct is the studio of Pretty Damn Cute Kustom Cakes, who have created a signature Easter cupcake collection. You need to hop onto their website to preorder a box of 6 or 12 cupcakes topped with mini chocolate eggs, DIY Easter Cupcake boxes, or Easter cookies, and prepare to collect on Easter Saturday or Sunday.
Newly established small business, Banksia & Co, have the cutest hot cross bun themed stud earrings, alongside a colourful Easter egg pair. Proving hugely popular already, these handmade jewellery almost sold out in one swoop, but a little bunny tells us they have been restocked leading up to the long weekend…mainly thanks to their crafty creator/teacher working their carrots off to make some more!
Instaworthy Easter bevvies
Find extremely indulgent but timely treats for café folk at The Lavender Goat in Charmhaven. They have a menu of crazy concoctions to wrap your hands around, incluidng a cup of coffee served in a giant chocolate Easter egg. Yes, it is a thing. And yes, it looks absolutely delicious. Available in one size only due to eggquirements, this is a foodie pic you don’t want to miss taking eggvantage of this Easter on the Central Coast! Also on the menu - a Cadbury bunny egg filled with a Nutella shake, confetti sprinkle trim, load with fairy floss, choccie eggs, candy and Easter bunny mallows... grab the camera!
At Umina, a new ice creamery is serving up a rainbow of sweet options that includes a signature Easter inspired treat - the Easter Brownie Bomb. This creation includes Cadbury Creme Eggs or Caramel Eggs whipped up in a speckled brownie, served on an ice cream nest of your choice. Available all Easter Weekend, this is a great option to get the family out for a beach walk followed by ice cream sundaes all round.
Milky Lane at Terrigal is known for its overflowing sugar-inspired thickshake desserts, so can we expect anything less than eggstravagant from them for Easter?! Introducing the Caramilk Espresso Martini Bunnies, Deep Fried Creme Eggs and more. Available Easter Friday through to Easter Monday, book a table to avoid a sugar low/disappointment.
Venture into the Wyong Milk Factory precinct and seek out Luka Chocolates. They have released a special Easter Collection that includes gourmet handmade chocolates shaped in a koala, bunny, crocodile eggs, chickens and cute characters for children. The star of the mix is their chubby ‘Luka Bunnies’, available in milk or dark chocolate.
A local West Gosford coffee roastery have artfully created their latest limited edition blend of beans based on Easter, and it comes with a guarantee of eggsellence. Coffee lovers can embrace the essence of Easter with this Guatemalan-Honduras blend, described as a "raspberry jam filled Easter egg and a smooth cup of tea". You've got to pop in store to pick a bag of the good stuff up.
East Gosford café, Sweet Caroline, are offering tailor made Easter biscuit boxes to preorder. The cute handmade treats are iced to perfection, featuring a bunny with a love heart nose accompanied by a delicate pink rose biscuit. Reach out to the SC team on social media to request your special order, and when you collect time it for brunch, as their fresh, colourful, generous café menu carrot be missed!
The Central Coast's award winning gingerbread house, Adri's Gingerbread, also have their iced vanilla bunny biscuits available to buy in David Jones Tuggerah stores and some BP service stations, which are a simple, handmade gift for a loved one this Easter weekend.
An icon of the sweet-toothed community on the Coast is Marshmallow and Co, who continually impress us with their mallow ingenuity, such as the Hot Cross Bun marshmallow! They are currently in prep mode to move to a bigger, brighter local space so although their dessert bar is temporarily closed, online marshy orders are a go. For Easter, they have released the Mega Marshmallow Egg filled with Nutella, coated in 100s and 1000s, and it’s extremely FOMO inducing to watch their videos of the egg being sliced in two ready to consume.
