Family-friendly wildlife, art & culture experiences
Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park have teamed up with local Australian Aboriginal artist Garry Purchase to bring you Dream Wild Art & Wildlife Workshops. This newly launched, unique experience will be run for several dates in 2021 at Calga on the Central Coast, just a short 20 minute drive from Gosford CBD, or one hour north of Sydney.
This event is designed for small groups, and is hosted at a working wildlife sanctuary in the Central Coast bushland of Calga Valley, located on Heritage-listed Aboriginal Cultural Landscape. This is an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in nature while learning about the local storylines of the earth and sky directly from Garry, an award-winning artist of proud Dharawal, Bidjigal and Dhungutti descent.
Garry will guide you through the bush with his knowledge, and help you paint your own artwork inspired by techniques of the world’s oldest civilisation. During the family-friendly event, you will also meet resident kangaroos and wildlife, watch the sun set over a national park, enjoy wine, cheese and roast marshmallows as you chat around the campfire. For children, there is a daytime workshop featuring ochre face painting and boomerang throwing with refreshments included.
